Aarav Shah, a rising junior at High School North in the West Windsor-Plainsboro district, was riding with a group of bicyclists out of state when he was fatally struck by a passing car, Superintendent David Aderhold said in a release on Sunday, July 17.
Shah was an active member of the school community, Aderhold said.
Meanwhile, counselors and case managers were offering assistance to students in need, and Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care staff is at the school from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, July 18.
Virtual services can be scheduled by sending an email to marykate.harty@wwprsd.org.
“If you feel that your son or daughter is having difficulty coping with this event, please let us know as soon as possible,” Aderhold said.
“Please keep in mind that any traumatic event can trigger an emotional reaction, even to an unrelated event.”
